The End of Myself - Digital Download
JUNO-nominated Mike Janzen’s new album of original songs, The End of Myself, brings together folk, soul, and pop stylings. This latest folk release may feel like a departure from Mike’s Psalms Project or his recent jazz trio records; however, being unpredictable has always been the most predictable part of his musical career. This self-produced album leans into a more acoustic, rootsy vibe and features some of this country’s finest players in guitarist Joel Schwartz, drummer Davide Direnzo and bassist Mark McIntyre. The music follows the narrative of faith being found in some of the harder places of life but always points to hope growing out of the fertile soil of loss, failure, and injury. The musical scope ranges from toe-tapping country songs like “The Bottom of Myself” to the tender-hearted ballad written for Mike’s wife, “Love You Like That”.
